December 27, 1992 - Sunday - Kimmeth, Busch Gardens

Merry Christmas! Kim didn't call me Christmas evening, and I then slept in late on Saturday morning. I sort of really wanted her to call. As I was lying there in bed, I realized that maybe she wants me to call her just to make sure that I want this friendship as well. I haven't been the one that usually calls the other lately. I mean, she did have to call me up in Gainesville because i hadn't called in so long. I got up and gave her a call at eleven. She was getting ready to go do her laundry, but we ended up talking for a good hour. She went to some blues bar Christmas night where her little bartender friend, Drew, works. Fortunately, he has a girlfriend. She had some pretty funny stories to tell about what went on there. She also was bitching quite a bit about how her brothers ate all of the Christmas leftovers and didn't save her any. She says that she likes to eat the outer coating of the turkey because it tastes good. I referred to it as 'turkey jerky' and she liked that.

While we were on the phone, her mother went outside to check the mail. Kim was saying that the mailman is flirting with her mother. She then saw her carrying in a package and wondered if it was for her. She said that her mother would open it for her if she didn't hurry and get it. She asked and her mom said that, 'It's all your's,' and handed her everything. She got some pretty good Christmas presents. One was an insurance check for well over a hundred dollars from the woman who bumped into her. The other was a cute Calvin and Hobbes T-shirt from her friend in St. Johns down in the Virgin Islands. They both had this evil smirk on their faces and she really liked it. She was happy that now she had something to wear if we went out so that she didn't have to go and wash her laundry yet. I told her to wait until today anyway because I would be up at Granny's.

We also talked about Busch Gardens a bit more and she was telling me that the Flume ride was back up, but they were having a shitload of problems with it. Stuff like, Spillway would shut off when they started Lift 2, which in turn would shut off when they started Spillway, and she said that the pumps kept going off. I think she had talked to Mark earlier. He was working there and called her once while it was shut down. She also informed me that Busch Gardens is open until nine at night all this week. She asked me if I'd still like to go over that day. I said that I suppose. She asked , 'Just suppose?' and I said, 'No, please, please, please go with me to Busch Gardens today!' She told me that she loves it when I beg and we laughed. We decided on going at about three, and she said she'd call back later after she ate, showered, and did some other stuff. I got ready and then went to sleep for a while.

When she hadn't called by three, I called her and asked,' What's taking you so Goddamn long?!?' in a witty tone. She laughed and said that she was washing her car, and that she'd call me back soon. I then went and bought gas and she called pretty soon after I got home. She asked me if she could talk me out of Busch Gardens, because she didn't really feel like going. She said that perhaps we could go see a movie and go get some French fries somewhere. I said sure, figuring it was getting late anyway. She also asked me if I still have the little advertisement from Denny's that she signed and I said yes, that it's up on my bulletin board in my room. She said that she was going to jump in the shower and would call me back. I said that it's going to take me forty-five minutes to get there anyway, so I might as well start driving. She realized that it was a better idea and we said that we'd see each other in a little while. I wanted to leave early because I figured that she might still change her mind about Busch Gardens and didn't want to waste any more time. When I got there she was in her room getting dressed and called out for me to hold on a second and entertain the birds. Her mom was in the kitchen and chuckled. She came out with her hair sopping wet and was dressed in her new shirt and some black bicycle shorts. The shirt was an extra large and was very big on her. It was cute because at times, it looked like that was the only thing she was wearing. We ended up mentioning that at one time. She looked at me and asked if I still wanted to go to Busch Gardens. We laughed and I told her that I figured she'd change her mind which is why I wanted to go ahead and come. She asked if I minded if we took her car. She wanted to cash her insurance check first and figured it'd be better if she drove because she knew where she was going.

We drove up to the check cashing place on Hillsborough and I told her that I'd just wait in the car. She said OK and said that she'd even turn on the radio for me. It took her quite a while and I would have gone in with her if I would have known that it was going to take so long. It's a pretty bad part of town so I just kept hoping I'd live and wouldn't get robbed. She jogged to the car when she was done and apologized for taking so long. We then drove by the car lot where she bought her 1975 Toyota Celica but they were closed. We were talking the entire way. We used to shut up when we were driving for some reason. Somehow we brought up the fact that she shaved her legs as well. I was happy that she did. She also has a little date with a guy named George tonight from Boca Raton. He's a little surfer dude with blonde hair. So. She met him last weekend in Ft. Lauderdale and they said that they might do something since he was coming to Tampa this weekend. She said that she didn't really want to go with him anymore, but he did stay an extra day just so he could. She was suppose to call him at around eight. She ended up hoping that they would just meet for a drink and she could send him n his way. It sure did sound like she was trying to make it seem like he is very unimportant to her. She started doing that earlier with any of the guys she was talking about, sort of like the way I do to the girls I know.

I asked her earlier on the phone if she knew that Boca Raton means 'rat's mouth' earlier and she didn't believe me at first. She once was in a cafe that was named something French that had a totally different meaning than the way that it was translated literally. But since it was a Spanish name, I started pronouncing his name in Spanish, 'Hore-Hey.' It was funny. Anyway!!! We were driving in her car and started talking about her legs being shaved somehow. I reached under the steering wheel and gently yet quickly slid my hand up her leg and said that they indeed had been shaven. She said that I couldn't even tell by doing it so quickly so I reached over a felt her leg again, but longer. She said that her ex-live-in-boyfriend, Max, used to think she had very nice legs and showed me how he once felt her leg in the car by rubbing her hand up my leg. We exchanged leg rubs a couple more times and it was quite interesting. I was having a trip!

Then we really started talking to one another for the remainder of the day. We never ran out of things to talk about. Not even while we ate dinner, or on the trip home, it was amazing. I guess that since I'm eighteen now I can no longer be considered jailbait and she actually will consider me a person!?! Just kidding! Sort of.

Anyway we were talking earlier about having to pay parking and I mentioned the little lot across the street near McDonald's that I always park at. You then just cross at the pedestrian light and you're at the entrance to the park. She wasn't quite sure where I was talking about, and said she'd probably feel more secure if we parked inside the lot. When we passed by, I pointed it out and she saw that it was a lot safer than she thought and started to U-turn to go park there. I figured that They wouldn't be charging parking by this time anyway and thus told her to go ahead to the lot. I was right and we parked pretty close to the front under the Monorail. She had a very presumptuous zit on her right cheek that she was very self conscious about. I didn't think almost-twenty-five year olds got zits! She wanted to put on concealer and we were laughing that she would have to do it in front of the Monorail full of people that just passed by. She kept bringing it up every once in a while that everybody is looking at her zit. I wasn't being mean, just funny. and only when she brought it up first. I kept reassuring her that it wasn't very bad though. But the two that just popped up on the other side are!!! Ha!

She gave me her little money holder to hang on to for her and I put it in my back pocket with my wallet. We walked in and stopped by the photo Express and said hello to Rich. We then walked through the bird gardens and the kiddie land looking at everything. We were talking and joking around the entire time. We walked to the Flume first and went to see who was there. Paul, the guy who we saw over the summer at Adventure Island was there for the winter and we said hello. I noticed that everyone was still in shorts, and Kim said that it's optional now. Wow! We walked up front and Kim introduced me to Laura. She was asking me later if I wanted to go out with Laura, but I'm not quite sure why. We also talked to Alan for a few minutes. After Kim and Laura waved to Mark up at Lift 2, and after I said that he could kiss my ass, Kim and I walked out and over to the Python. We were messing around about something as we were out on the deck in front of the Flume but I don't remember what.

The Python line wasn't that long, and we headed straight for the back. The rides seemed much faster and more fun after not riding on them, and not thinking about them every day, for a while. We could see the beginning of the giant new roller coaster that we had heard so much about. It was an aqua blue just like I dreamed and is huge! Only the lift and part of the bottom is in place yet, but it seems to tower into the sky. It's awesome!!! I can't wait! It started to sprinkle for a few minutes. It turned out that it poured in most of Tampa except for at Busch Gardens. An arctic front was also supposed to come through but I didn't think it would, and it's still very hot. We stopped and talked to this black guy who hangs out with them for a few minutes. He told her to bring me the next time they go out and she then said that I'm only eighteen. He said that I should try to get a fake ID over at USF. She then wanted to ride on the Mamba so we did It was fun being squished in a small cart right next to her. We got one that spun very quickly, too.

We then walked over to Timbuktu and rode the Phoenix. Kim's shoulder harness locked too tight and she was complaining that it was squashing her breasts. I though of so many rude things to say back at her but I'm a nice person now so I withheld them. We had fun though looking at the nighttime skyline upside down. I kept telling her to raise her arms and we both did. It was fun. It was the first time in a long time that we got to see all of the rides with their lights on because the park used to close while it was still daylight. We then went over to the Scorpion and got seats pretty close to the front. That was fun as well. We then walked through the employee walkway over to the Flume. Laura was on the unloading brake and Marcella was up front. We said hello to her and then both got in the front. There was nobody else on the ride and she didn't want to get wet so she tried to hop into the back. I kept holding her in with my knees around her butt but she eventually wiggled free. Thus I splashed her. We saw Andre and Mark with their little trainees up in the boxes. After we got off I gave Kim a big wet hug and she tried to wipe her leg off on my shorts.

After we were done messing around on the Flume, we went and rode the Skyride. We both simultaneously sat on opposite sides of the gondola and put our feet up on the seats. We kept straight faces and then laughed because the guys running the ride were talking about us because they expected us to sit together. I wish we would have, though. We were talking before about Teresa's brother Gene. He's the one that Kim went out with before but now she thinks he's a total asshole! We joke about him all of the time even though I've never met him. The stories alone are enough. Of course I realize that they are one-sided but I believe her. When she told me that he works at the Gap in the mall, I immediately made a logical deduction that he's gay. It's form the guy's that I've seen working there. When she realized the truth to what I was saying she thought it was pretty funny. I made some pretty funny jokes about him being gay off of stuff she would tell me. It was pretty funny.

At one point she joked to me that I should appreciate her company because Gene would kill to be in my shoes right now. We then joked that I should call him and tell him how much fun I had today at Busch Gardens with Kim today. 'Did you know that she has very soft legs? And have you seen the new tattoo on her butt yet?' It was funny.

We got off of the Skyride and went over to ride Questor. We were joking around again and having a good old time. She said that we should find out which door was going to open, and since I have asked them that plenty of times before with my family, I did it again. She seemed somewhat impressed that I went and found out for us. It was funny because every once in a while, all throughout the day, we would just look at each other and smile without saying a word for a second or two. Anyway, we went to the back corner where the ride is the roughest. She hadn't ridden back there in a while and we got thrown around quite a bit. We then both mentioned being hungry and decided to get some food soon. We first walked through the Clydesdale exhibit and saw the baby born back in March I think. It was about twenty until eight, when she wanted before to be home, so she asked me if there was anything else I wanted to go and ride, or did I want to go and eat, and I opted for the later.

She wanted to go into the gift shops first though to buy a couple of small gifts for some people she knows. She bought these cute little glass animals that were hand blown. One was a little round pig. They had these larger glass bunnies made of solid glass tinted slightly pink. I know lots of people who would love one of those, mainly Tracy and my sisters. We then went to the leather shop where I helped her pick out a pretty new purse. Their stuff is actually pretty cheap for being genuine leather. We also looked at some of the other little imported trinkets they were selling. She was looking at these little hand carved boxes made out of what looks like soapstone with little flower designs in the top. She was wondering what it was for and I wasn't really paying attention but mumbled that it looks like a lizard coffin. She really liked that, enough that it made her want to buy it. That was brought up a couple more times later as well.

We also ended up talking to Rich again for a little while. He's interviewed and will be taking a job as a branch manager at a Barnett Bank soon. that's pretty impressive. He wants to eventually become some kind of investment consultant. Kim and I then took off to the car. We were lightheartedly arguing over whether we wanted to go to Wendy's of McDonald's. She ended up winning which wasn't really a loss. I just had to settle for a milkshake instead of a Frosty. Darn. After the Skyride, we were talking about how people sit across from each other while they're eating. She also was complaining about how she hates it when somebody just reaches over and takes food off of your plate. She said that she didn't really know she hated that until once when Max did it. She also hates people who leave dregs of food in containers. It was funny. Anyway, I started complaining that she used to always sit across the table from me when we went out to eat. She said that she usually does that with everybody. I did bring up that the one time she did was at McDonald's when all those little black kids were there and she remembered. I pretended that was the reason why it was all right for us to go there instead of Wendy's.

She didn't do that good of a job parking and agreed that I do a better job than she does, even though I did almost hit that van in the University Mall parking lot. Actually I was pulling into the parking space after making a half circle and timed it perfectly. She thought I was going to hit the van though although I knew exactly how far away I was and I eventually convinced her of that. Anyway, as we ordered, I said Merry Christmas as I pulled out my wallet and paid. We went and at at one of the round tables. She scooted in about half way from either side and I smiled and tried to sit as far across from her as I could. She laughed and scooted closer to me and I then moved in right next to her. We talked a lot while we were eating and she kept laughing and wondering if George would be mad since eight had come and gone and she hadn't called. She told me a story about some juveniles who were flirting with her once in McDonald's. It was funny. We also were talking about some personal stuff, enough to make her wink at me a couple of times.

I also made it seemingly clear that I was concerned that she might be interested in other guys. I told her that girls aren't allowed to go after guys who have girlfriends because they would be looked down upon by society, while guys are allowed to because we are already seen as pigs anyway. It was essentially to ask her if she'd stay away from Drew if she could and she knew what I was talking about. I then told her to be good. We were joking that she should go out with George in the same bum clothes that she wore to Busch Gardens. She really seemed intent on making me feel like she wanted to turn this guy off. Good. We then drove back to her house, and we still had plenty to talk about the entire way home. She forgot to turn her headlights on, and off for that matter, which were both mistakes that she made fun of me for that night at the mall. It was funny. When we got to her house she said that even though we didn't stay very long, she still had a lot of fun, and I did as well. She mentioned that perhaps we can go out soon so that I can meet Teresa. I love all this attention from her! We did seem to be in physical contact a hell of a lot today. Fun fun!

I drove home quite happy. I didn't have time to tell my family much of what had happened when the phone rang. I was walking by it and picked it up right away. It was Kim!!! George had taken off!, and we talked to me for a few minutes and then wanted to know if I wanted to see a movie or something. I was looking through the paper and reading off the movies. She asked if there were any takers for Malcolm X. I said that there are plenty in her neighborhood and she told me to shutup. I then asked her what I would do with her for three and a half hours in a long boring movie. She paused and I was laughing to myself before she thought up some dumb response. I think she said that we could make fun of them or something. Yeah, and get shot by the rest of the audience! She then realized that it would be too late by the time I got all of the way back to her house for us to see any movie.

She asked if I'd like to go to her little blues bar. She said that she wanted to take a nap first though and then go. I said that I can't because we're going to Granny's Sunday morning and I had to be awake. She then said that she could always invite Rich, that he'd like to go. I then quickly said, 'OK, I'll go!' and she laughed. Actually he lives in Port Richie and could never make it back to Tampa at any kind of decent hour. She also thanked me for being so agreeable. She then confessed that she really wanted to go to Busch Gardens the entire time, she just wondered if I'm really as flexible as I claim. She mentioned something at the mall Tuesday night and I went along with her. I then mentioned that my wife is really going to love me because I can easily be persuaded to do whatever the girl wants. I guess she was just seeing for herself.

Anyway, I asked her if she'd rather possibly go see a movie tonight instead. She thought that was a good idea and I said that I'd call when I got home. I figured however that she'd be with Teresa since she will have just arrived from St. Louis. When I called she ha already gone so I left a message with her mom. She called home to get her messages and then called me. She said that she was already in St. Petersburg and I said that I figured she would be. We talked briefly but with meaning. She said that she was sorry but her public called upon her and she had to leave. She said that we'll talk again soon, perhaps tomorrow. Good!!! What fun I'm having!

She asked me if I wanted to say hi to Teresa. I said yes and then said hi. She laughed and said she probably won't hear me since she's way in the bathroom. She said that Jake didn't seem to remember her at first, but later Teresa asked him if he knows who that is, and he said Kim. That made her happy. I asked her how Gene is. She said that she thinks he's out on a date, but she doesn't know what his name is! We laughed. It was funny to hear her make fun of him like that by herself. I told her to have fun, and that I'd talk to her later. She said yes, maybe tomorrow...
