Well, my friend Emily made out with this guy last night. He's one of her ex-boyfriends. I came in to lab today, and jokingly asked her why she wasn't in class yesterday. She asked what we did, and I said that I just read the paper and did nothing since she didn't show. She said that I shouldn't even have gone because I think she was trying to tell me Monday that she wasn't going to class. I then said that it was good though because it made me go to Social Problems, which was a lie, because I would have gone anyway. She then said that she racked up some social problems lately. She then stopped and I told her that she couldn't leave me hanging like that. Just by the way she was acting, I knew that she had done something with a guy, but I was thinking more on the lines that a guy asked her out.
I told her that she did see too happy when I first came in and she laughed. She said that she's not happy that it happened (she said this repeatedly!), but is happy that she'll be getting out of Gainesville this weekend for her pool tournament. I congratulated her for getting what everybody in college wants, physical contact! and she quickly corrected me that it isn't a goal of hers. We then had a sweet little talk where I said stuff like the fact that physical contact is most guys' goal and that's probably the main problem. She said that's not our only problem and I argued against that. I did say at one point that I was jealous, but I didn't specify whether I was jealous that she was with another guy, or just envious that she was making out and I wasn't. She said that I shouldn't be, though.
I didn't let the news really phase me, and we actually joked around and hung on each other more than usual. I did take the opportunity to come up with some pretty witty yet lighthearted jokes about her little escapade. Some of them were pretty funny. We messed around and wee laughing a lot. I actually wrote up my lab over with her at her station. It's a pretty good thing that I've been more cautious with her, and not really become very emotionally attached. That's not quite true, because I care for her a lot, I just haven't become 'jealously' attached yet. I was more cautious with Emily than I was with Melissa. I tried imagining how I would have felt if Melissa came in after she had broken up with her boyfriend, and told me about making out with some other guy. I would have been crushed. Maybe she knew that and wouldn't have told me if she did.
Anyway, it's not quite the same because I knew from the beginning that Emily has many guy friends. It almost seems like she's better friends with a guy after she breaks up with him. It's very reassuring to know her religious background as well as I do, because I know that she won't be having sex with anybody out of nowhere. I still wonder if she's a virgin, I'm pretty sure she is. I walked with her most of the way to the Reitz Union before she left me. I had already said that I was going home, though. Next week I think I'll go with her for a change.
I was surprised today when my little distant friend, Jennifer walked up early before class and talked with me for quite a while. I ended up sitting between Noel and Derek, and Noel and I were being pretty funny throughout class. We talked some on the way home and it's funny how Jennifer seems to get pissed off when he talks to me for a long time, ignoring her. Ha ha. I flirted with the cute roller blader, Kimberly, from across the room, and also talked with Christina for a few minutes at the beginning of class. I actually walked away from Jennifer when Christina came in to talk with her. It's because she's so gorgeous and nice, and thinks I have pretty eyes!
Oh yeah, Emily gave me a present in lab. It was a ring made from gold wire that one of the hippy vendors out on the Plaza of the Americas gave to her the other day. She slipped it onto my pinky. It was pretty cool and I'll actually wear it since it's from her. This was after we were running around spraying deionized water on each other! It was pretty funny!
