I had a rather cool and lucky day today as well. I planned on getting up early and dropping my sociology class during second periods before chemistry lecture third. Ed and Chris have chemistry second and I was going to walk with them. Jon also got up early and it would have been too hectic if I was trying to get ready as well, so I just slept an extra hour. I registered for a Social Problems class which fulfilled the writing portion of the Gordon Rule. They are much smaller than the lecture section without it, but are extremely hard to get into, especially during drop/add. I didn't think it was worth it if it were not Gordon Rule so I was just going to drop it and not even try to get into the other any more this semester. I figured fourteen would be enough especially with my pain in the as British Literature class.
I went to chemistry with a bag of Nonpareils that I ate throughout the lecture. There was a pretty cute girl just to my left, and another not so cute, but well developed, that I flirted with throughout the lecture. It's going to be somewhat awkward imposing myself on a girl in a lecture hall that is only half full. Hopefully I'll meet a girl in lab or discussion that I can then start sitting with in lecture. Afterwards, I went to the bookstore to try and by books for my English class, but they didn't have any of them. We have a rather abundant reading assignment due tomorrow morning. He told us that we'd probably have to go to the bookstore across the street, so I figured I'd do that later. I then went into Turlington to drop my sociology class. When I finally found the line, it was only about fifteen people long. Since I was only dropping, I could have just walked straight in, but there was a really cute girl at the end of the line, so I talked to her instead. She was ethnic and very hot. She was wearing a flimsy white T-shirt that draped her curves very well.
So I wouldn't look foolish for waiting in line, I borrowed a course guide from the guy behind us to find the section number of the Gordon Rule class that would ideally fit into my schedule. I figured that I'd ask, get rejected, drop my class, and leave. I never expected her to say that the class was open, especially not the exact section I needed. When she did, I was stunned for a second, and then told her to add it. Wow! Jon later told me that I was pretty lucky. I got into an extremely hard class to get into it, with extreme ease. Somebody somewhere must like me. I then had a dilemma. I still only wanted fourteen credits (ideally fifteen, but oh well) and wondered if I'd have to turn around and drop the wonderful course I just added, or drop that hateful English class.
There were good and bad points for both. The English is really hard, the entire grade coming from only four papers. I really wanted to wait until another semester when I can get a better section of it later in the day. That was another problem, English is second period. If I dropped it, I wouldn't have to wake up on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until sixth period which starts at 12:50!!! I loved that! I also was thinking that if I screwed up on just one paper, my grade would be fucked, while I know that I can make an impressive A in sociology, and learn some interesting stuff while I'm at it. The only bad thing was the exam. In sociology, it isn't until the last day of exam week, Friday. That sucks! If all of my others were much earlier than that, I would have dropped it, but my new Calculus class ended up being that Thursday, which solved that problem. I decided to go to sociology which met today, and see if I liked the teacher or not before I decided. Jon then said that it was the same teacher he had, and he is really good. That really influenced my decision. I liked him a lot and the class was filled with attractive women! All in all, I dropped English. I see my schedule as still being hard, but much more bearable, and actually quite fun and interesting. I really like all of my classes and professors!
I then went over to the Florida Book Store across the street from the University and bought the six novels for the class. I also found a larger version of the Oxford Duden German-English dictionary that I found and a bookstore in the mall and fell in love with. It is awesome, with tons of good phrases, and most importantly, the gender of the nouns, the most important part of German which no other German dictionary seemed to have! Since my class books were only costing me ninety dollars since I'm reusing two, and am borrowing Jon's expensive chemistry books, I bought the dictionary. I already have learned some interesting and vulgar new sayings.
On the way there, I ran into Tama. After picking her up... Just Kidding. We talked for a few minutes and said that we'd talk later on the phone. I thought to myself that I believe her about as often as I fuck her. Ha ha. I then went to Criser Hall to pick up Financial Aid Forms and get a printout of my schedule. I turned and saw Jennifer. I chased her down and we talked for a few minutes. She said that Derek won't be there tomorrow because he's taking Meg off to send her home. Good, I'll be able to steal Jennifer even more tomorrow in class. I told her about not having to wake up until German class and she was jealous. We said goodbye and I told her not to oversleep on her nap again and we laughed. I then ran into Cecil just outside. We talked a good little while about everything we did over Christmas break, and all that we had to do during drop/add.
While I was talking to him, Rebecca walks by and said something about the fact that she keeps running into me everywhere. I asked her if that was good or bad, and she said good and we laughed. What else could she say? We didn't talk long because of Cecil, and then he and I wrapped it up. I told him to stop by soon. It turns out that he did last night at about eight, but nobody was home. I think I was, but I was asleep and never heard anything. Oh well. I then came home and have just been hanging out and napping ever since. Oh yeah, I did run into and talk to Heidi for a few minutes. She talks to me like she knows I like her. I'm sure that Jen told her before. She's so cute!!!
