December 25, 1993 - Saturday - Shari's pictures, Shari!

Merry Christmas!!! Well, things worked out rather good today in the woman department. I had memorable rendezvous with at least four of the things throughout the day.

I woke up around eight thirty this morning and quickly helped the girls wake up mother so we could get things going. I didn't have all day because I had to be at work at noon. I took lots of pictures of Cathleen opening presents and soon ran out of film. That happened to be the same roll that Shar¡ and I used back in September when she came up for the weekend and I was kind of excited about finally being able to get them developed. I looked through last Sunday's newspaper to see if Eckerds was running a half price sale and indeed they were, and they were open today! So I ran over there at ten so I could pick them up an hour later before I went to work. I ended up dropping off copies of the Christmas pictures before heading off to Busch Gardens.

I spoke briefly with this food service girl named Kelly as I walked into Crown Colony. She's the one that Rich likes and whose house he was eating Christmas dinner at with an invitation from her parents. I soon found out that there had been some major call ins and started work early. Mark is this Italian guy who is really funny and I tried to match some of his joking today and was doing a pretty good job. There's this ugly girl in food service named Shari and it scared me a couple of times when people would say or call her name until I figured out what was going on. I thought I was going nuts for a second. Mark was joking with her that I like her and I was playing along that I like her right in front of the girl. I then was saying about all of the things I could do with the two gallon tubs of whipped cream they have in the back. It was funny and he and I joked around all day long.

I then got the balls to go talk to this nice looking long haired girl in food service who was finally exposed out at the cash register. We started talking and she has an awesome country accent and I fell in love immediately. She was awesome until I saw the engagement and wedding rings!!! Shit! That really sucked and I went and pouted to everybody.

I then got a lovely little phone call at the bar from Sarah over in the Stanleyville train station. We talked for about fifteen minutes before I told her I had to go so I didn't look too bad in front of the guests or supervisors for that matter. I did get her number and promised to call her back. We ended up talking back and forth all day long and decided to meet up after work at a gift shop in the front. I walked around impatiently for her until she finally showed and she didn't look at all like I had remembered. She definitely looks a lot better with a tan and sun bleached hair but who cares about being choosy... We met up with this girl named Destiny that was taking her home and hugged before realizing we were walking the same way. I had also put my earring in to show off and she noticed. It seemed like an effective encounter, although really quick.

I came home to an empty house and called out to Mema's where they all were. I then waited for them to bring home the leftovers from Christmas dinner. I had my Christmas dinner at work today which consisted of a lot of fresh carved turkey, stuffing, yams, corn, a roll, a drink and carrot cake. It was just like the meal I had on Thanksgiving day except this time it was free for the employees! That was cool. Claus and I got our lunches at the same time so we could take the long walk to where they were serving it.

At about a quarter to ten I answered the telephone and we all figured it would be Mema checking to make sure they got home. There was the same pause that she always does but then a girls voice said hello. I instantly thought it was Sarah. It wasn't until almost a whole sentence later that I realized it was Shar¡!!!!! SHe joked that she was just trying to be nice and call to say Merry Christmas and stuff and I as mean and asked her if that's not very easy for her to do. She then said that she has tried to call me a couple of times but I was at work. We only talked for a second because I actually told her I was getting my food ready to eat and I actually didn't drop everything and talk to Shar¡!!! What the hell am I thinking??!??

After I put my food in to cook the phone rang again and father ran deviously to answer it and joked that she didn't give me very long to eat. It was Ashley!!!! I was rather surprised by the call on Christmas but was extremely glad. She was very hoarse and asked if I knew who it was even after I seemed to recognize her voice from the very first instance, which I did. We both seemed rather glad to be talking to each other and we both had a lot to say. She told me about her brief weekend with Daniel and I then let her know who I talked to for the first time just a few minutes before she called. It was funny.

She wants me to stop by and see her the day I go and get my ring which is really cool. I then told her that my only day off is Tuesday and I'm planning on going with Laura to Busch on that day, and told her how she came by to say hello the other day. Ashley thought that was sweet of hr and then confessed that she hasn't talked to Laura since she dropped her off Thursday afternoon even though she lives just two minutes away! I told her I need to call her soon and she said to tell her hello and that she loves her. I then said no and told her that I'll tell her that I... and then realized what the hell I was saying and Ashley caught on really well. It was funny and Ashley seemed to actually push the idea rather than criticize me. That was some nice encouragement in a meaningless way. Maybe Laura likes me because they had to have talked about the idea... everybody talks...

Well, if Shar¡ could see some of the pictures I have of her now, she would shit!!!!!

December 28, 1992 - Monday - Christmas, Rhonda, Tina

Well I figure it's about time I write about Christmas, before I forget!

We left for Jonny's house on Christmas eve sometime around five o'clock after father got home from work. When we got there, Jonny was outside waiting for his new little girlfriend, Carol, to arrive. Everybody else was already there, but the food wasn't quite ready yet. I said hello to Rick and a couple of the others. Sherry kept going on about how big I've gotten since they've seen me last. She kept making fun of Jon for not being the biggest anymore. Larry was already sitting at the table, silverware in hand, waiting for the food. I went and talked to Grandma for a few minutes before it was time to eat. I actually got a spot at the adult table this year. I sat next to Joan.

Rick and Denise smoked the turkey, and I thought it tasted pretty good. I also ate tons of stuffing. I talked to Rhonda for the first time while we were filling our plates. Rhonda was wearing a cute little midriff shirt. After dinner, Rhonda, Tina and I went and sat on the couch with Jon and teased him about Carol, who still hadn't showed up yet. When she finally did, I told Tina to scoot over so Carol could sit with Jon. Then Rhonda, Tina and I started talking for a while. They thought it was neat when they found out I am going to UF. Tina knows a lot of people who go there and actually knew about some of the parties at Gator Growl...

I just now had some thoughts. I was thinking about who I'm going to call when I get back up to Gainesville. I was just thinking about how my closest female friend, Melissa, is now gone. I then come home and all of those old 'I'm in love with Kim!' wounds are now reopened and I'll have to deal with that again. We'll be parting with a much better relationship this time. I just would like to go to my new classes, make some new friends, and ideally find a girl that I can actually be with for some length of time. That's all.

Anyway, we soon opened all of our presents. Larry was constantly taking pictures. He then would group us up into our families and take those as well. I eventually went and got my camera and asked him to take a couple for me. I wanted a picture of Rhonda and Tina so I took a 'family portrait' of his family for myself. I received a portable cassette player from Rick and family to use up on campus. I later found out that they kept asking Mema all about my classes trying to find out something really good to get me. I'm going to write him a thank you letter soon. Mema gave me three dollars and later gave me a new shirt. She said that she didn't want to give it to me with everything else because she didn't have anything for Robert. We decided that we'd consider it a back to school gift. I also got a good little keychain flashlight among other things from Larry. That was good.

It was funny watching Carol caught up in all of the commotion that we have all gotten use to over the years. After everything was opened, everybody started grouping off and talking. Sherry, Denise, Rhonda and Tina all stole Carol at the kitchen table and they talked for hours. Jonny was depressed that they stole his 'girlfriend' so I tried to cheer him up. I took Cathy over and got her to give him a Hershey's kiss. He was laughing and it did a good job of cheering him a up for a little while. Later on he was messing with his camera. The film wasn't winding and he couldn't get it fixed. He was almost ready to throw the entire thing away. Luckily, I've played with cameras enough that I fixed it pretty quick so he was happy again. I was glad that I got it fixed.

Eventually, everybody started going home, and we soon did as well. I was a bit surprised to discover that Carol is quiet old with at least one sixteen year old kid! I went to sleep pretty soon after we got home.

I didn't wake up until about nine when everybody else was already up. I got to watch Cathy open all of her Barbie stuff and later her ponies. I actually was surprised quite a few times. I got a rechargeable flashlight all of my very own. I was very careful not to let mother steal this one before I had it packed safely away. I also received a Cambridge organizer, which I had wanted for the longest time, but could never find! I didn't really remember telling them that much that I wanted one because I thought that they'd think it's too expensive so I was just going to buy it myself. She said that I did tell her though and I'm glad that I got it. It was a pretty decent Christmas, especially since there was a $550 check inside of the organizer for college!

November 30, 1992 - Monday - Melissa, TurkeyDay, Jen

Well, there are only two more weeks until finals, and then the semester is over. And Melissa will be gone...

Last Wednesday I stayed in Gainesville solely for German class. Actually, I stayed to see Melissa, otherwise I think I could have found enough cause to go home early. We ended up doing these interviews where we each got a different question and had to go around and ask everybody else to answer it. Mine was something about if the person could sail by himself. It was good though because it was really social and I got to talk and mess around with Melissa and Cindy for a while. Melissa seemed to be hanging on me an awful lot, practically leaning up against me at times. You can imagine how elated that made me feel thinking about that later. Everything about her is so wonderful. After our interview, Cindy ended up sitting over in front of Melissa and I and we talked a bit. Elaine had this insane old professor evaluating her class that day and towards the end of class, somebody said something wrong, and he started cracking up. He turned bright red. He wouldn't stop, and in turn we all started laughing at him, which caused him to laugh even more. It was hilarious. Melissa said that made it worth coming today to class. I looked at Elaine and said, 'I guess you passed!' and both Melissa and Cindy really liked that one. It was fun.

I told Melissa about my little party on my birthday. She suddenly remembered the message Ed left on her machine, and said that she didn't get it until one at night. She said that she really wanted to come and was going to call me then by decided against it. She had to go talk with her thesis advisor after German or I would have taken her home to have some cake and beer.

I went and got my car, and paid my Goddamn parking ticket!!!, after class. Jon and I hurriedly packed it and were soon on our way. It was fun having someone to talk to on the way home as the trip seemed to pass by much faster. The traffic was really bad, almost stopped going the opposite direction. As we were passing the rest area before Wildwood, suddenly my gas pedal hit the floor and would no longer work! I tried pumping it but it had broken loose. I was in the left lane and was slowing down quick. I knew that I should stop as quick as possible so that we would be near the rest area in case we needed help. Jon once had a pin come out of his clutch an it did the same thing that my gas pedal was doing. I checked the pin, but it was still in. I was worried that it might have fallen out back on the road because we would have been really screwed. I then noticed that the clamp that held the cable to the throttle had slid off. I pooped off the air filter and slid the clamp back on. I was extremely relieved. Nothing was broken!!! The clamp had just slid off probably because it wasn't on completely tight in the first place. We were out of there in five minutes which seemed to be a small miracle. It was really fun getting back onto the interstate with all of the traffic.

We ended up making it to Tampa safely, without a ticket, or an accident. I dropped Jon off at his dad's job downtown. He works in the same building that Stacy's mom does. I then drove home. Mother ought expensive vanilla ice cream for me to have with the chocolate cake I baked that night. Later on Thursday we went out to Jonny's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Mema had come down about a week or two ago and had spent all day cooking. We had a big turkey, stuffing, and all the side dishes. It was only the five of us, Jon and Mema. She didn't really want to invite Larry and them. We had a really good time and spent a long time out there. Chrissy, Cathy and I went down to the lake and took some pictures. We didn't tell anybody else as to surprise them later. We also took a picture in the house. Jon gave me about five new shirts that he didn't plan on wearing. I wear a lot of his clothes now. I really like his taste in flannel shirts. I don't mind when the sleeves get too short, but he does. He also gave me a 1993 Penthouse calender to hang on the wall with the rest of my stuff. That was funny.

It was rainy and cold most of the weekend. Friday night we went shopping at Target and Walmart. WE went to the new Target out on Ehrlich and Dale Mabry. I love Targets because the store is designed to be more attractive to a younger richer crowd, even though it's just as cheap as any other major discounter. You see cute girls there everywhere. It almost seems like you have to be an attractive young female to get a job there too, most of them are that way. I love going in there and flirting.

I left for Gainesville after noon on Saturday. I wanted to miss all of the traffic and also had the intention of calling Melissa or seeing Jen. I did see Jen and talked to her for a while. I probably could have done something with her. Gainesville looked like a ghost town. I went shopping on Sunday for a while.

This morning I went to German a bit early, and Cindy was already there outside. It is really cold now up here since the front came through over the weekend. I talked to Cindy the entire time until the classroom was opened. Now that Cheryl has dropped out, Cindy sits by herself up towards the front and doesn't seem to have too much fun during class. I felt bad realizing how she must feel, not really dreading the class, but not really looking forward to it either. She's also really cute and I like her a lot. As we walked into class, I told her to come sit back by me. I even moved Steve's chair away from us.

We talked a lot until Melissa came in. then I turned and said hello. I was about ready to tell her about my car breaking down and all, and once again, she blows my pity story out of the water. She started by telling me that she though she was going crazy last night. She then told me that last night after I called her... And then I broke in and said that I didn't call her, what are you? Crazy? She then said that if I didn't want to hear her story then fine. I gave her puppy eyes and told her that I definitely want to hear her story. Last night she got a serious migraine to the point where she could barely see. She thought she was going insane. She went to the infirmary and found out that she had been walking around all day with a concussion. Saturday night when she was driving home, a guy coming onto the road in the merge lane hit the guy to her right causing her to swerve into a steep ditch. She hit her head on the side window. It's really strange imagining the incident for some reason.

She didn't want to miss German, so she had taken a Codeine earlier. She had also forgotten her book and asked to share with me. She then realized that she didn't have her interview with her, so she walked home to get it. It was already time for class to start and she didn't make it back for a good ten minutes into class. Cindy and I talked some more, and then I talked to Fran‡oise about her weekend. The little bitch went home early last Tuesday to Tampa, and said that Tuesday and Wednesday were hot, sunny,a nd perfect. She spent them at the beach and got a pretty good tan. Bitch. It was raining and cold by the time I got there. Bitch. It was funny. When Melissa came back, she didn't bring her book. I thought that was strange. It almost seemed like she wanted to pull me closer to her away from Cindy. But that sounds more like my hopes, instead of reality. She asked me if we are going to do our oral dialogue together again, and I nodded. She asked me a couple more questions about it, and I kept nodding to each of them. Towards the end of class, Cindy then asked if she could do her dialogue with us. I told her no, sarcastically a couple of times. A little while later when Melissa had gotten up to ask Elaine something, I told Cindy that she'd have to ask Melissa about working with us. When she asked her if she minds, melissa said, 'Yes, no problem...' I laughed that she did mind even though she was actually telling Cindy that she could work with us. We're getting together tomorrow night, I think I'll have them come over to my room. That might prove interesting.

Jen came over at around 10:30 and I showed her the wonderful things on my computer. I saw her again today in the CIRCA lab before class and talked with her for a while. Ed took off to study. Chris lost his Chemistry lab book. It is essential for a good grade, so he and jon drove to Jacksonville late last night to get it. They're crazy! After everybody left, Jen stayed for a while. She looked at my pictures and we listened to Garth Brooks. She sprawled out on the floor twice and I wondered if she's hinting or hoping for something. I don't know.
