September 30, 1992 - Wednesday - Luck with Tama!!!, Kim

September 30, 1992 - Wednesday
Things are going too good for me this week. It's fabulous, I can't remember a time when things that I plan work out so wonderfully.

I started studying on Monday. I realized that I had better after getting back my test and quiz scores. I have thus gotten my ass in gear and have been studying, almost too much, all week. My real reason is to impress the girls. I found out that the kinds of girls that I want to impress are done so much more easily by brains. Combined with my good looks and interesting personality, I can really kick ass in the social world. And I have done so this week. If I can keep up the good luck, charm, and determination that I have shown this week, I will excel academically, be swarmed by women, and be happy the entire time. I'm loving life.

My success started yesterday morning in Physics Lab, of all places. There is really attractive girl in there that I have been waiting to be lab partners with for weeks. We are supposed to have a different partner each week. Two weeks ago, my partner was this fat chick named Debbie. She was nice but not that smart. She asked me for my phone number at the end of class, and gave me hers. She said that we should in case we needed somebody to study Physics with. She said that she'd definitely be calling me. I can't wait. Last week when I went to lab, the girl didn't have a partner yet, but I was completely unprepared and did not want to look stupid, so I worked with this guy. Monday night I read the lab and prepared notes for my report. I actually studied! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I was really confident as I went to class yesterday.

When I got there, the door was still closed, and some of the people were sitting outside in the hall. Debbie was talking to the girl so I walked up. Debbie said hi to me and the three of us started talking. As we went into class, I asked her to be my partner. Her name is Kim. Of course, isn't everybody's? She's older, I think she graduated from high school in '83. I looked for both a wedding band and an engagement ring and she had neither. She only goes to school part time, and she works in a medical lab in the hospital down by the Oaks Mall. We clicked right from the start, and we have quite a bit in common. She is a Florida native and lived over on the West Coast in either Ft. Meyers or Key West, I don't remember which.

We did really well on the lab, too. She told me that she already has her A.S. degree so I started joking. I asked her if she was happy with her A.S.S. or was she working towards something better. She said that her A.S.S. would make her enough money, but she wants more. We played around like that for a few minutes and kept talking as we walked out together. My little 'plan' to meet her worked out perfectly. I was in a great mood for the rest of the day. She told me about a lab help session that they do on Thursdays. It would be a cool way to see her more and I want to start going every once in a while, maybe.

In Physics Monday morning, Farnaz and I exchanged numbers so that we could study last night. I had mentioned the idea last week but she brought it up this time. I called her yesterday when I got home from Calculus at three. She was just sitting around watching TV. We decided to study in her dorm in the New Residence Facility. You have to be a Junior to live there. It's really nice but there's seemed somewhat prison-like because they didn't have much stuff on the white walls which were made of cinder blocks. At least our dorms have drywall walls that make it like home. They also don't have an oven, just a range and a microwave. Otherwise it's pretty much worth it. Each of the four people has his own room and there are two bathrooms with a huge vanity between the two. They even have a living room with bay windows. I rode my bicycle over and found her room pretty easily.

We studied for about two hours, working on the sample test from last semester. I finally was remembering the Physics I learned back at Leto, because I kept solving the really hard problems all by myself and then got to explain them to her. It was cool since I never listen to his lecture, I only go now to get important dates and to see Farnaz and the other girls. I was sort of beaming because I kept figuring them out. We got tired after a while and talked for a long time and watched TV. I eventually met all of her roommates as they wandered in every once in a while. I ended up telling her that I am only seventeen and had to practically beg her to find out how old she is. She kept saying that she feels old, and pretends that she is older than she is. I found out that she is only eighteen (and a Junior!) and is only my senior by seven months.

We ended up talking about sexism and had a typical male-female argument over how females and males are exploited by each other. I used my male chauvinism to argue my points. We also threw sex into our conversation every once in a while. There were a few intense moments where she was on the couch, fiddling with her hair (and curling her toes!), while we just looked at each other with puppy-dog eyes. We had fun. I wonder if she likes me. We joked around a lot though and luckily the exploitation conversation came at about seven when I needed to leave. After she chased me around trying to hit me with a pillow, I was up, so it posed a good time for me to leave.

Ed and Mia had arranges an ice cream party for our floor at 7:30 and I made it just in time. I ate almost two full bowls of ice cream. The second was all Ben and Jerry's and was really good. I got to remeet the girls on the floor so it proved worthwhile. Later on we watched Wild Orchids which turned out to be a pretty good movie, especially the ending. The girl in there was perfect, I dare say she was a ten. She was gorgeous and we were all lusting over her. It made me hungry so I made dinner at midnight.

My other 'plan' that worked perfectly occurred just a little while ago. This one was more of a plan and worked much better than I would have ever dared imagine that it would. There is this cute girl in Computer class that I often found myself staring at when I was bored. Actually I wasn't bored when I was staring at her, but... anyway, I saw her walk into Beaty East once and finally made the connection that she lives here. That intrigued me, attractive and close, very close. We had a quiz last Wednesday. It took me no more that five minutes. This other guy whom I had talked to finished at the same time I did and we joked afterwards. I told him how easy it was and he thought that he did good, too. I asked the teacher, Girish, what time he was starting the second hour lecture, pretending to be interested. The guy laughed at me once we were outside and asked me if I had any intention on going back. Of course i didn't I was just being polite. I think Girish, who is a fat little Indian grad student, is going to get pissed off someday if we keep walking out like that. The class will start out with thirty to forty kids and will end up with fifteen if he's lucky after the two hours. It's really funny watching it happen.

Anyway, I went and got my car because I was going grocery shopping and then drove back to Beaty to pick up my checkbook. As I walked in, the girl walked in at the exact same time and we got in the elevator. I asked her if she didn't just come from computer class, pretending I didn't know. She said yes and we started talking about the quiz. She thought it was pretty hard. We talked at each other until the door shut behind me on my floor. I was floating. I was very, very happy. The timing could not have been more perfect. It's mind boggling.

I planned on showing up to class early and going and sitting up front where she sits on Monday. I was then going to ask her how she did on her quiz, and then impress her with mine. If she really did bad I was going to offer to help her, since we live so close together. Otherwise I was going to ask her to 'study' with me. She didn't come to class on Monday though. We also got an assignment which is due next Monday, so after he explained it, I left class and went to hurry and type it in so that it would be ready on Wednesday. I hoped that she wouldn't be done with it so then I could help her. It was placing a lot on chance and hopes, which all paid off.

I went in early again today. As I was combing my hair in the bathroom in CSE, Tirtha Roy from Leto comes in and recognizes me. We talked for a few minutes and caught up on each other. He asked me where I was staying and was surprised that I got Beaty. He sid that he is going home this weekend, but the next time something is going on, he'd give me a call. That was cool. When I walked into class only one other person was there. I went and sat up towards the front. The guy that walked out when I did last week came in and sat next to me. His name is Bryan. We started talking and he is probably the most interesting guy in there. He is a Senior and will graduate this December. Neither one of us have bought the book for this class either.

We talked until the girl came in. She sat two seats in front of me. I got her attention after a few minutes and told her that it was good that she showed up for a change. She laughed and then we started talking about the quiz. I bragged that I got a 39/40. When Girish came in, they got theirs. Bryan got a 35 and she got a 33 which was better than she had expected. She told me that I would have to help her since we live together and I agreed. I asked her who she is, anyway. Her name is Tama. I asked them if they have done their programs for Monday. They hadn't so I asked them if they wanted to leave and do it after he went over it again. We laughed at the thought of three people going out at once. I told them how his feelings are probably hurt when people leave but he just doesn't want to show it. Tama thanked me, telling me that made her feel so much better about leaving. She never has left from a class until this one, it's just so fucking boring. Girish told the class that today was a very important day because he was teaching Chapter 2. I asked her if she bought the book, and then told her that I'd teach her later in much less time.

After he gave his little review of the assignment, he turned around to prepare for the lecture. I asked them if they were ready, in a loud whisper so that others in the class would hear. She said yes so I said, 'let's go,' and the three of us got up and walked up. It was hilarious how the people snickered as we left. It was really a bold move on our part and took balls. We went over to the computer lab and grabbed three computers. I printed up two copies of my program to use as I helped them. We talked and played around while they were writing the programs. We were talking about dorms and they were pretty surprised that I got a dorm in Beaty. I said how i think it is a great place for a Freshman but they thought otherwise saying that you don't meet enough people. I disagree, I've probably met so many more people and have done so much more in Beaty than otherwise. I also brought up how I think it's better rooming with three other people instead of one because there is a much better chance of having at least one person you really like and can hang out with. I'm really lucky that I have such good roommates. Afterwards, she asked me if I were going back to Beaty and I said yes. She waited as I got my bike and we walked back together.

A cold front came through last night and you can really feel the difference. It was cloudy and cool all day, YUK!!! I want my hot steaming sun!!! She's from St. Louis and likes it. She was thinking about going out to TJ's tonight. She hasn't been out this year at all but went a lot last year. When we got to my floor she said bye and said that she'd see me Monday. I asked her if she wanted my phone number and she said definitely, and that she was just going to ask me, I then asked for hers, 334-9302. Perfect! How could it have worked out better.

Valerie called me a little while ago and wanted to know if I wanted to go grocery shopping with her. I told her that I couldn't. I didn't want to think about Valerie after such an amazing stroke of fortune. I went out with her, ernesto, and Noelle Sunday night to get ice cream at Baskin Robbins. We had fun. Ernesto and I were staring at the cute girls. We then ended up at Noelle's dorm. Ernesto and I were making fun of the girls and what they were saying. It was funny. We then decided to stop by my dorm. Ernesto had never been there before and he liked the posters in my room. Everyone got in a big argument about people talking behind other peoples' backs and now Valerie hates everybody's guts except mine. I played the neutral party and she still talks to me. She doesn't even want to call here anymore just to avoid having to talk to any of them, she wants me to call her instead. It's pretty messy. I'm not really having a problem with her absence, I'm finding plenty of comfort in all of the other girls. Girls, girls, everywhere, even in my underwear! I wish. I hope. I 'PLAN' on having a girl in my underwear soon. Ha ha.

I've even been having a really good time in German lately. Now that I've been studying my book every night, and doing all of the exercises, I understand almost everything we are doing and was even able to spit out responses to her questions today without even pausing. It was awesome, especially since there was another teacher in there observing her. I'm having fun now that I know what's going on. I've been talking to Fran‡oise a lot lately and have made friends with a bunch of the guys in there, too. A fun little pastime that we do now, is to look over the second floor railing before class at all of the gorgeous girl's. Of course it was my idea in the beginning. I also walked home with Melissa today after class. Fun. Fun. Fun.

I wrote a big journal entry on Saturday that sort of was a part two for last Monday's entry about Busch Gardens. Right as I was finishing, the entire thing erased and I was heartbroken. It sort of deterred me from writing for a while but obviously I'm back in full swing.

As I finished up my phone call with Kim that Sunday down in Tampa, it got rather interesting. She was going with a girl from the Flume named Laura to see Single Whit Female. I told her that it sucked. She was going to take a shower soon so I asked her if I could join her. She said, 'Sure, but unfortunately you called me just as you're getting ready to go back so I guess you won't be able to make it.' UHHHHGGGG!!! She also figured that she'd be done by the time I made it over anyway. She's thinking about buying a car as soon as possible. She said that she'll have to try and come and visit me sometime since she didn't realize that I as only going to be two hours away. That would be awesome! I hope she comes through on that one. It'd definitely be a blast hanging out with her up here. All these ideas she puts in my head, at least I had plenty to think about on the drive back. I've been thinking about her a lot again lately. I finally had calmed myself down about her, and then I have to go and see her again. Darn. I love and miss you, Kim!

I called mother on Sunday at about four and talked for an hour. She told me that Stacy's mom had called and asked for my address. She said that they talked for a pretty long time and had a good conversation. That's neat. Well, I got Stacy's letter (computer printout, of course) today:

Sept 26th, 1992
Dan,
What's going on? I had my mother call your house to get your address. I just wanted to write you and see what's going in Gator Country! Things are going well here in Tiger Town. I have some pretty easy classes here. Well, I'll go through my schedule I guess...

September 21, 1992 - Monday - Busch Gardens, Kimmeth

Life just keeps getting better and better, so it seems. My life seems to be a roller coaster that travels up and down from being sleepy to hyper. I never get depressed, I'm too much of an optimist. All I have to do is look at a pretty girl or think about how wonderful I am, and the blues seem to just keep away. Besides, the best way to solve your problems... is to go to sleep. That's one of my philosophies, although I tend not to use it that often in real life. My life is definitely on an upward path again because I've had too much fun this weekend as well as today.

Valerie got busted by her father Friday morning for using his credit card numbers to mail order stuff. Therefore she wouldn't be getting any travel money for Busch Gardens so we pretty much called it off. We decided that we should just go to see her friends and hang out in Tampa all day Saturday. As the day went on, she started thinking that maybe we should just stay in Gainesville and go tubing in the river. I figured that we'd end up going to Tampa anyway so i left my plans wide open. Ed never intended to go with us because he wanted it to be just me and Valerie as a pair for the weekend, and didn't think he'd have fun if she and I hung together all day. He instead planned a date with a girl named Noelle and told Valerie that he just had too much homework and wanted to ride his bicycle. After Noelle called and said that she was going out of town, and would call him again on Tuesday, I urged him to suggest to Valerie that we all just go ahead and go to Tampa. I liked that idea better anyway because I wanted to stay for Sunday with my family. So at 8:30, we finally decided that we were going to go to Tampa, and Busch Gardens, too.

Ed had a Chemistry test with Chris from 5:30 to 7:30 earlier on Friday, so Valerie and I went out to a listening party for Sin‚ad O'Connor's new CD at this alternative record store near campus. She got a free CD and poster, and I got a free cassette single and a couple of posters. After we all decided on our trip, we went to the movie theater and saw Captain Ron with Martin Short. It was really funny and was the best movie I've seen so far up here. It was really good. Now that Ed and Valerie are effectively split up, I brought him into the conversations at the theater and all three of us had a good time. I was looking at the cute girls in line and the three of us were rating them. Valerie's shoelaces came untied and she was in a really short dress so I kneeled down and tied them for her. In the theater we were talking and she said that we didn't need to try so hard to look down her dress, she'd just take it off for us. Ed turned away and later said that he was just being polite. Fuck being polite. But of course she didn't pull her shirt down all of the way, but I'm quite sure she would in private if in the right mood.

She asked me about my fantasies, so we took turns telling each other some of them. She already knows about the two women at once fantasy, and the shower fantasy, she wanted better ones. I had to think for a little while but I finally remembered a good one. I want to make out with a girl, even to the extent of having sex, in the water at the beach in the middle of the day while people are everywhere. Of course we'd be in shoulder deep water. I've always pictured this fantasy at Sand Key, but I've also thought about the same situation in a lake, Lake Blue Ridge in particular. I also had never told anybody before and it was funny opening up like that. She has ones such as having sex in a river, and sneaking into a public restroom. I haven't had that fantasy since Jana was commenting on how gross people that have sex in bathrooms are. Abby used to have the river fantasy also, and I think there is some kind of psychological thing that wanting to make love in a river means, as compared to my ocean or lake, which are big bodies of water.

On the way out, Ed went to the potty, so Valerie and I hung out in the lobby. We were in pretty good moods after such a funny movie. I noticed that my shoelace had come untied so I told her that it was her turn to tie mine. She did, despite her dress, and despite the fact that we were right in the middle of the lobby with people everywhere. There were three black guys on a bench that saw and were pointing and laughing. I thought it was funny. We then took her home and went home ourselves to pack and get some sleep. I went through all the newspapers to take the stuff I didn't want home so they could read them and then recycle them. I also took Cathy all of our aluminum cans so she could get money for them. We were up and back at her house by 7:30 Saturday morning. I had gone out after classes on Friday to buy a fuse for my radio which I so dearly missed. I went from WalMart to Ace to Radio Shack to Target to some auto store and finally to a place called Sound Ideas which was back near campus. There I finally found the fuse I needed. Actually, my fuse was a weird number, so I finally found somebody who knew an alternate for it. It only cost fifty cents.

It was awesome driving on the interstate with my bass tube. It used to be that the wind drowned out the radio because I drive with my windows down. Now it's perfect. I followed Ed and Valerie for a while, but after we got gas, I took the lead. It wasn't really like leading though, it was more like fucking waiting. Every once in a while I would have the urge to go faster and I'd just blow him away, passing a bunch of cars in the process. I then had to wait for him to catch up but it was worth it. If he would have set his cruise control at seventy-five instead of fluctuating around seventy, then I would have been happy. I then found a semi truck that was perfect for drafting. Most are too high off the ground, and all of the air comes under them and hits you, and most really stink. But this one was beautiful, and he was going fast enough, too. It's awesome because you can really feel the difference when you're drafting him especially when you have the windows down. We were going eighty and it had completely stopped vibrating which it does at really high speeds. I was right behind him, changing lanes with him, for a really long time and Ed later said that he was jealous.

We didn't get to Tampa until ten and the I still had to go home to get one of my employee passes. I hadn't called so my family had no idea that I was coming. I dropped Ed and Valerie off at Denny's near Busch Gardens and left. When I got home, Chrissy was the first out the door, and father was even home. They all came out to see me and were definitely surprised. I stayed for about twenty minutes and told them to have a place ready for me to sleep when I got home. The have completely redone my room, now there is the couch where my bed used to be, and there are toys everywhere where Chrissy and Cathy play. I didn't get back until 11:15 only to find that Ed had gone off to have a check cashed at a grocery store. Since there are no grocery stores near Busch Gardens I figured he'd be a while so Valerie and I just sat there and talked in the front of Denny's. When he got back at 11:45, he didn't get to cash a check, so he hardly had any money for the day. He had promised to pay for Valerie's ticket, so there went my extra money. Stupid shit.

Valerie wanted some sunscreen and was running around asking anybody if they had any she could borrow for at least half an hour which pissed me off, but after that things went perfect. We walked through Myombe Reserve and then saw the Clydesdales. I then convinced her to go on Questor which she thought would be stupid. The line was really short which was good. I wouldn't tell them what was going to happen, I wanted their first time to be like mine, when I didn't know what the hell was going to happen. At the beginning of the ride, the video and sound tracks got screwed and cut off. We sat there while the ride went through all of the motions, while I narrated the whole time. 'Now we're... going over a waterfall!' and stuff like that. It was funny. They told us that they were unsure of how long it would be before the problem was fixed so that we could ride again, which scared most of the people off. We were three of the only five people that stayed, and it turned out to only be a very short wait. It was much better than she expected even after the first 'ride.'

We then took the Skyride to the center, and I sat with Valerie. In line there was this European family behind us. Valerie knew because she noticed that the two girls didn't shave their armpits. They were both about my age and would have been very attractive despite their hairy flaw. She thought it was strange though that they did shave their legs. Since I had nothing better to do, I flirted with the younger one. I think she took the hint because I started hanging back from Valerie and Ed and she started getting really close. As we were standing at one of the line's turns, I had my hand on the railing and was turned away from her. She comes and leans forward on the railing right next to me so that her crotch was right against my hand. I stupidly didn't look in her eyes as I slowly unwedged it, to see if it was intentional or not, but I really think it was.

I took them first to the Congo River Rapids and expected a long line. I was shocked when the line was only three rows long, and it took us less than ten minutes where it used to take over an hour in the middle of the day. Valerie and I sat together and left Ed to sit with some old Spanish woman. She really didn't want to get her hair wet so I told her to put her head near my lap when the waves come, and she laughed at me. But she must of found that to be the best idea because she kept on leaning there so I'd get wet instead of her. We then went to the Bumper Cars and took out our frustrations on each other. I also refused to gang up on Ed, I actually was more interested in gang banging her... whoops, I meant ganging up on her. We were having lots of fun though, and I kept talking to Ed just to make sure he didn't start feeling rejected. It really sucks to have to drag around a pissed off person at Busch Gardens. It ruins all of the fun, and luckily it never happened.

I just had my computer engraved by the police department. The guys are coming around to all of the dorms with the engraver and put your Social Security number on anything you want. I think it's a good idea and want to get my bicycle engraved tomorrow downstairs.

Anyway, back at Busch Gardens, we then headed over towards my Flume ride. I was thoroughly enjoying all of the girls that were walking around and was doing my best to flirt with them. Valerie and Ed went into the store to get a plastic bag for over her head while I went into the back of the Flume to visit. I walked up the stairs and Brad was on the control panel. We talked and caught up real quick. I asked him if he had gotten his transfer and he had. It will move him to the Congo and Timbuktu rides in a week. I then asked if my friends and I could still come through the back and skip the line. He said sure so I went to get them. I met Frank in the back and we talked. I asked him who all was still there that I know, since I had just seen a bunch of new girls out front. He said that Mark and KIM were here and that Marcella was over in the lounge. I was extremely happy to hear that Kin was there. I thought she had already been fired, and I wouldn't get to see her. He told me that Sharlene had quit because she would have been fired otherwise. As I was running out I ran past Marcella and said hi.

I brought Ed and Valerie through the back and we loaded in the boat. I was in the very front and Valerie was right behind me. We threw Ed in the back. I ended up leaning back on her and toward the end she was using her thighs to squeeze me and I told her to be careful, I might come. I was referring to when she dry humped Ed and we both cracked up. He asked what we said and she told him. MArk was in the first box and he was on the phone with Kim. I waved and said hi. Thinking back, I think he called her to tell her that I was on the ride. I told Valerie that I disliked him because he was my only competition for the girls on the ride. She said that he was cute. As we went up Lift 2 I could see Kim in the doorway. She was off the phone with Mark, which was good. Maybe she didn't want to make me jealous. I wish. It was wonderful seeing her pretty hazel eyes and gorgeous hair again. She pulled out her cup of ice water, of course, and got ready to throw it on me. We were saying hi at the same time I deflected the cup so that only half got me and some got her.

Valerie later was saying how pretty she is and how wonderful her hair is. She asked me what color Kim's eyes are, and said if they had been blue, she would be perfect. I'm happy with hazel. I was so elated after seeing Kim again that it was almost like being on drugs. It was an artificial high that lasted the rest of the day. When we got to the unloading brake, Alan was working on the opposite side so I asked him if we could go again and he said yes. It was asking quite a bit but I'm really glad that he let us. The new girl seemed a little confused at why she was letting us stay on, but she'll live. Valerie thought it was really cool that I had the power to first skip the line, and then get to go again. She was really impressed, especially when I told her that it was my supervisor who I talked into letting us go again. She later told me that she had more fun than she probably would have otherwise because she had a personal guide who knew his way around and knew all of the best places to go. This time Frank was in Spillway and he laughed at me. Kim picked up the entire ice chest this time but I knew that she wouldn't do it because Valerie was in there with me. I pleaded with her as we went over telling how much I really like her hair. She told me that she likes my blue eyes as she tossed a handful of ice into my lap. It was funny.

I stopped and talked to Alan as we got off an asked him about Christopher. He is up to six pounds and is doing fine, but Alan doesn't know what sleep is anymore. Valerie thought it was cool how I kept talking to and kept getting talked to by employees all over the park. She didn't really believe that I knew so many of them at first. We then went to the Tidal Wave where Danya waved at me from inside the control panel. Christine was unloading so I turned up and talked to her for a second. Valerie knudged me because I kept talking to all of the girls. After the ride, I got up and almost gave Christine a nice big sopping wet hug, but she deferred me. We then stood behind the panels on the bridge and watched the splashes. There were these three really cute sorority looking girls there too, all wearing white. The best looking one was braless and her tits were completely visible, not to mention perfect. Valerie didn't look bad herself, in her wet white leotard and jean shorts.

Her phone number is 377-7685. She just told me. I used Ed's black book to call her to see what's up. She completely hates Ed now, to the point where she doesn't want to call or come over if he's here. That's why she gave me her phone number. He really pissed her off this weekend, especially on the trip back Saturday night, and while they were here. Valerie's friends, Brenda and Janet turned out liking me and hating Ed. They thought I was crude at first until they got to know me as the night went on. They thought Ed was stupid. Valerie feels exactly the same now. She wants me to go dancing with her and a really gorgeous smart single girl named Tanya, and possibly Noelle. I told her how Ed thought he was going out this weekend with her, and she laughed and said that Noelle doesn't like him. We just got off the phone at about nine.

I'm going to jump ahead to the really important part, Kim, and possibly go back and finish the wonderful weekend. Last night at 7:30, after I took my shower and got everything ready to come back to Gainesville, I called Kim. Her brother answered and it took her a couple of seconds to come to the phone. She seemed a little surprised and asked what I was still doing in Tampa. I told her how we came down and how I stayed for Sunday. She got 'mad' at me for waiting until my last half hour to call her. She told me what all was going on at Busch Gardens, and how the supervisors had tried to keep her but the new area supervisor didn't let her to stay because she'd been written up. She's interviewing for another job that she really doesn't want, typesetting and stuff like that. I told her how I've been out dancing and partying every weekend and she let me know again how she had told me that I would be out partying all of the time once I got here. I told her how I agreed with the letter and laughed when I read it. I also told her that her hair was mangled and I was heartbroken. She told me that she'd have to send me another.

We started talking about birthdays and I asked her if she was going to send me a card. She said she'd go out and send it this week so she doesn't forget. I asked her what gift she was going to get me, and she was pondering over finding something neat to give me. I suggested a lock of her hair. She said that it would be quite a sacrifice. The thought of an entire lock of her hair had never crossed my mind, though it's interesting, I was thinking more around four inches. But if she's willing to make such a sacrifice for me, then I'm more than willing to accept it.

September 17, 1992 - Thursday - Val, Melissa, Francoise

Monday night, Ed spent a very long time on the telephone with Valerie. At twelve he finally got off and then announced that he was going over to Valerie's at 1:30. We all jokingly cheered him on, telling him now's his chance to get laid. Jon asked him what he had to lose. It sort of worried me though because I thought that she might be giving in to go back out with him. Girls do shit like that even when they don't really like the person. It's emotional insecurity because they sometimes think they might be in love with the guy when they really aren't. Ed stayed over all night and I didn't see him again until late the next day but he didn't say anything about it. I didn't see her again until last night when she showed up around eight while I was just finishing up a phone call from home. They mainly wanted to know what all was going on, and how soon either I am coming home, or they are coming up. Valerie looked sort of dressed up and I saw Ed getting dressed so I figured that they were going out somewhere.

Suddenly, everything made a screeching turn for the better. It turned out that she just dropped by to see us, and that Ed was going to a little Floor Senators' meeting to present his idea for a progressive dinner. He wants each room on a floor to make one course and then the entire floor would get together for a meal. This would help us to get to know each other. I sat with Valerie in the kitchen and asked her what was up and told her my fears. She laughed and told me that it all went perfectly. She told Ed that she was still in love with the guy she used to date and didn't want to be anything more than friends. She said that she invited him over just so he would know that she still did want to be friends though. She also said that she was already asleep by the time he got there that night.

She really didn't like the way he tried to control her when they were 'going out' and said that she really didn't want to be with him all the time because she doesn't love him. He asked something stupid like, 'What does this mean, that we should only see each other once a week?' and we made fun of him. He called his mom before he left and we were ragging on him that he was calling mommy to ask her what he was allowed to do this week. We, especially I, say some really evil things about him but they are so true and we always laugh. Valerie and I were in my room planning a trip this weekend with the maps on my CD encyclopedia. She says she's really jealous of it because when she begged her parents for a computer, they bought her a piece of shit Commodore. Oh well. We really want to go to a real beach and we were trying to decide between Clearwater, Sarasota, or Daytona. I remembered that the beaches south of Tampa have red tide so we decided on Daytona.

I then brought of the fact that we were hungry for ice cream. She really wanted to go and said that she would drive because her car was downstairs. We picked Baskin Robbins because there were some really good coupons in the Sunday paper. On the way we talked about everything from going out to how glad she is that Ed is finally off her back. We joked that I was really the guy she loved, and was the reason she couldn't see Ed anymore. She told me that if we go out, she's going to erase every thought of other girls from my mind first. Good luck, dear. Baskin Robbins was pretty empty when we first got there. Kimmon, a guy on my floor in Beaty was there with three friends and we waved. I ordered a banana jubilee with a big scoop of cookies-n-cream, and rocky road, topped with whipped cream, tons of hot fudge, and a cherry. She ordered a big sundae and I paid for both.

We ate there and kept talking about the past few days' events. She showed me a cute little wooden mouse on her shirt's zipper so I looked down her shirt but she was wearing a leotard from dance class. She laughed because there was nothing to see. She finally told me what she and Ed did that Sunday morning while I was on the floor sleeping in her apartment. She dry humped him and he came. Big deal. I told her that I was disappointed, and had imagined a bit more since he seemed so excited about it for so long afterwards. I also found out that he told her that he still thought they had a chance when we went to St. Augustine. I laughed, and so did she, because we both were talking about how they really had no chance while we were there. Besides, by then, she and Ed had already had three talks where she told him it wasn't going to work but I guess it didn't sink into his desperate head. He also told her earlier that he wanted to spend more time with her alone, but it always seemed like one (me!) or more of his roommates were always around to ruin that idea. She told Jon and I that she wanted it that way because we are so much more fun than Ed is. Ha. We talked about kissing, too. She told me that Ed really sucks because he bits her lip or something like that. I told her that I'm a really good kisser, straight from Nicole's lips.

It took a while for us to get back, and when we did, we had forgotten to photocopy a paper for Jon and had even left it way down in the car. All that meant was that I'd have to walk down with her to get it when she left. Darn. We found out that Ed had already come back from his meeting, but had left again to study in the downstairs library. Jon was doing homework by the desk so we sat down to talk. She asked if either one of us knows how to give a massage. I said no but I'd give it a try. I've had plenty of experience getting massages. So I ended up giving her a really good, and long, back rub until she was bent way over in her chair moaning. Of course, Ed walks in, but I kept going. It was fun.

We then went downstairs and hung around her car for a long time just talking. She said that she is going dancing with a bunch of her dancer friends this weekend. She says they are fun, and she doesn't want Ed there this time to take away from it. She told me to try and brush him out of our plans this weekend, and not to tell Jon either. I'm more than happy to oblige. She called again later and said that she might have an even better idea for this weekend. Some friends of hers from Miami are coming up to Tampa, and we could meet them there, and possibly rent a hotel room to crash in. We would then go to Busch Gardens on Saturday and squeeze Clearwater Beach in somewhere. that would be awesome! I'd really like that to work out.

I've also been having lots of fun in German yesterday and today. On Tuesday I came in late and Fran‡oise was sitting somewhere else which depressed me. But yesterday she came back to sit next to me. There's a goof named Ian in our class that always comes in all sweaty with his headband and bicycle helmet still on and we make fun of him. She says it's because she has a secret personal attraction to him. Melissa and I have also been joking around a lot the last two classes. I really like seeing her laugh because she's so pretty when she does. Yesterday, Elaine was asking us what we read in German, and we were supposed to be answering in German that, 'I read a book.' and, 'I read the book.' I joked to Melissa that, 'Ich lese Mein Kampf.' and we laughed. Elaine always asks us, 'Was ist das?' while she holds something up or points at something. We usually say, 'Das ist das Buch.' or, 'Das ist die Wand.' If it's a feminine noun we say it softly, and the masculine we say really deeply. While Melissa and I were on the Nazi subject, I come up with, 'Das ist das Fuehrer.' and we cracked up. The way I said it was hilarious and she really loved it. I was very proud of myself and am glad to be getting on her better side.

It awes me to think about how I can be so funny so much. I don't really have to think about these things, they just pop into my head. I don't mean making fun of people either, I'm talking about pure sarcastic humor. I said something to Valerie last night that she liked and then she asked me, 'You really are funny, aren't you?' Afterwards in German, Melissa told me that was damn funny and we started laughing again. We keep getting into these short little laughing fits in class where we joke about something which lightens it up and makes it much more interesting. I also scored some brownie points with Elaine because she was later asking us what we eat, and the people were answering with a couple of short food words off of a vocabulary page in the book. I bust out with, 'Ich esse Weinerschnitzel.' which is a veal cutlet. You could tell that she wasn't suspecting it and we ended up having a class discussion on it, such as where it is from and how it is made. I learned the word from Derek because Mehtap made it for him once.

When I got there today, I was early because I had finished my Physics quiz early, the period before. This guy from Tampa that went to Jesuit was also there so we stood outside and looked over the second story wall at the girls walking on the street and sidewalk below. We kept rating them and were even flirting with a really cute one on a bench who was doing her homework. I had both Melissa and Fran‡oise next to me again and we kept talking the whole period. Melissa and I kept joking and laughing the entire time today. I asked her what she is doing this weekend and told her what we planned. I joked with Fran‡oise every once in a while but I waited to really talk to her until after class. I walked out with her and we talked about our coming up weekends. I found out that she is from Clearwater and she told me to get a tan for her if we end up at the beach. We just stood down in the patio for a few seconds and talked before we parted.

What amazing fun!!!
