October 15, 1992 - Thursday - Tama's room!, Melissa

What a week! It's been quite an adventure. I never got to finish my journal last Sunday because I had a much better offer come my way. Namely Tama. She hadn't called me lately, and both times I called her, she was either asleep or not there, and didn't return my calls. I started getting worried. She also didn't show up to class last Wednesday. I wondered what was up because I knew she wouldn't dump the guy who was going to save her ass in computers. But on Sunday night, she gave me a call, and asked if I wanted to come upstairs and do the assignment with her. She had been really sick last week which explains her not calling. She asked me when I wanted to come up and I told her that it really doesn't matter to me, and she loves me for being so easy going. Funny, the way I've written this makes it sound like she's using me. Anyway, I wandered up to her room at about ten. She was wearing a sweat suit and looked really cute. I met her three roommates, one who has mono, and one of their boyfriends. Some other people would come by every once in a while. One of her roommates birthday's is on November 15th. I wanted to remember that. One guy, Dan, came in and talked to us from across the hall for a while.

We studied for an hour before her roommate got back with the wine. They brought back two bottles of Sutter Home and proceeded to get drunk. I only had one glass of red wine, which wasn't that great, but was a bit enlightening. We ended up talking and messing around until about two. It was really fun. She, her roommate, Dan, and I all ended up sitting around the kitchen table talking about life. She looked so cute. Every once in a while when I'd be listening to her roommate, I'd look up to catch her gazing at me. I was being pretty witty. She at one point had to go to the bathroom, so I smiled and started clapping really slow and asked if I could watch. She thought I was cute and stuck her fingers in my hair and gently twisted it around. But she then declined my offer. But that seemed to have brought us together a bit because we'll touch each other now to emphasize things. I've never quite been in a friend relationship with a girl where se grabs a hold of my arm to make a point. I guess it was always get as close as possible but don't touch with the people I was around.

I ended up leaving at two because I had forgotten my keys and wanted to be able to get into my room without waking everybody up. At the time we were all in one of the bedrooms and when I told her I was getting ready to go, she actually got up and walked with me out to the elevator. As we walked by her bathroom, we both held the door shut so her roommate couldn't get out. It was funny. She then came out to see what we were doing or something as Tama and I walked down the hall. I turned around and noticed her so she went back into the room. She realizes how nice I'm being on my part because she knows that I definitely don't need to study for that class, and I'm only helping her for her benefit. Well actually, I'm hoping it will be for my benefit, but in a different sense. Right before I left she ended up saying something like, 'I guess I'll have to make you like me, so that you'll keep helping me.' We were both somewhat smiling at the time and I agreed with what she said. unfortunately, some guy and girl had come out at the same fucking time to use the elevator. Why the hell did they have such bad timing?!? Not that anything would have happened, but who knows. She was still a bit drunk.

I also know how her friends are, Everybody talks about everybody behind their backs. I really wonder what they said about me, good or bad. I wonder how obvious it is to her roommates that I like her. I wonder.

Tama called me on Monday and said that she'd meet me at class. I walked this time so that I wouldn't have to ride my bicycle while she walked. We only stayed in class for five minutes until Girish called for the assignments to be turned in. When I told Bryan that I'd see him later, he laughed that we were once again leaving. We walked home and it was a beautiful day. She kept saying that. There were no clouds but the air was still cool. It felt good in the sun, though. On Wednesday I called to make sure that she was going to class and then wandered over. The mid-term is tonight but she has a social problems test today that somewhat conflicted. We stayed in class the entire two hours so that she could schedule her makeup. I think Girish made her wait until the end of the class on purpose because we always leave. I didn't mind though because I got to see and talk to her. She started getting cramps half way into the class and said that her period always comes at the worst of times. At least I won't have to worry about her going and getting laid over the weekend. I joked that I was glad I was going home for the weekend so that I wouldn't have to be around her. I couldn't stand to see her bitchier than normal. I knew that wouldn't offend her though because she prides herself in being a bitch, along with her roommates, who always argue with each other. She's not bad at all though, she has my same sarcastic outlook that just makes it seem like she's bitching. I like it a lot.

On Tuesday I studied computer with a girl named Cheryl who's in my German class. I found out on Thursday that she was taking the same computer course as I and asked her if she had to take the mid-term this week. She said yes. We ended up going out with three of her friends Amanda, Debbie. Went to McDonalds, Tricia saw me with the four girls and we said hi. Post card (sand) for Debbie. We made Rice Krispy treats in Amanda's dorm. Didn't get home until midnight. Twice I've done that in the same week.

Had a hell of a time with Melissa today in German. I was early because of a Physics Quiz. She came twenty minutes early and we sat outside of class and talked. Fran‡oise seemed a bit concerned. Melissa and I are partners for the oral dialogue for our German mid-term. Wants me to call her either when I get home Sunday or I'll see her Monday.

After Stacy received my letter, gave me a phone call and we talked for over an hour. He didn't care because his mom pays for it and besides, he calls long distance on his modem all of the time anyway. Is going to give me his old modem which is great, and has a bunch of new picture files and animations for me, including pictures of Cindy Crawford. Said he'd mail me a disk.

I went and got my car today at three and filled her up with gas. Went downstairs with jon, who was returning a vacuum hose, just as Tama was walking in from her social problems test. We said hi and talked for a couple of seconds there. After I got back, I gave her a phone call. She said that the test was harder that she expected it to be. She told me to have a safe and fun trip and she hopes I get some color. I told her about losing my glasses and how it's going to be a pain driving at night. She said great, now she's going to worry whether I make it safe or not. Luckily, my wonderful roommate Jon is letting me borrow his glasses for the weekend. Thank you!
