August 11, 1993 - Wednesday - Visiting Shari!, Stacy

I had a pretty cool last day on the Kumba. I decided to work on the boardwalk all day long today as well as yesterday. My legs, feet and hands all hurt but it was well worth it. There is no responsibility and you have all of the freedom in the world to talk to the guests and other employees. Those of us that can stand the heat love it out there. I had one hour in the control panel each day, but that was the only other place that I really worked. The guests were extremely talkative and were in very good moods all day long. that was great. I kept receiving compliments about the park and everything. I also had quite a few in depth conversations with people about where they are from and so forth. I really liked that.

I talked forever on both days with this girl in the Kumba gift shop named Jeanette. I used to talk to her before but never seriously. I was amazed to learn that she is only sixteen, and not the eighteen or nineteen that she looks! She told me that most guys just leave when they find out. My wonderful self kept coming back and I think she really like that. We joked around a lot and she helped to make my days go by much faster. I also talked for a couple minutes with a almost every girl in the food shops around our area. It was fun.

My main little fling today was Stacy. She couldn't keep her hands off of me. I seem to always be there at a time when somebody is making a rude comment to her. I quickly pick up the pieces and she loves me for it. I was thinking about it before and realized that my talent is being able to know exactly what to say to somebody to pick up their self confidence when they are in a time of need. I did it with both Emily and Jennifer in Gainesville and have won over Jennifer and Stacy at Busch gardens by doing so. It's a special talent that I cherish. Anyway, we were being very nice to each other all day long and were having quite a bit of fun. It was cool.

Shar¡'s early morning phone call didn't catch me in time. I left early to go pick up my pictures from Albertson's at 9:30 and I didn't have to be to work until eleven. My pictures weren't ready yet, but I had another errand. I took the Skyride to the front of the park and after withdrawing some money from the ATM, I bought Shar¡ and my matching Budweiser pool shirts. I also bought a deck of Budweiser cards to add to our bar in Gainesville. I rode back to Congo and talked with Stephanie for twenty minutes about Shar¡ and girls in general before going to work. She seemed surprised to find out that I've told my parents everything that I've told her about Shar¡ and more! Oh well.

I went to Das Festhaus and bought my ham sandwich and drink and took it back to Vivi's. I planned on putting it in the refrigerator and calling Shar¡ for the remainder of my lunch and eat later on break. Amazingly there was nobody on the phone, and she was home. We talked until I was about ten minutes late and then I split. We both have a way of saying something very sweet to each other just when we need it most. It's weird but it's also really cool. She was talking about something and then told me that it proves that nobody loves her! I told her that I do!, and was later thinking about the deeper implications of her statement and back to when she tried to kill herself. I hoped that I was reassuring.

Brad Farber has come back to work from his three week trip to Israel and we talked about that for a few minutes. We get along much better now than we did before. I just never really cared to talk to him before. he was there at lunch with James when Shar¡ I got on the phone. James was telling him about my woman, and then told him that she's pretty cute! A compliment like that from a conservative upper crust like James means to me, the girl is gorgeous!!! I really appreciated the compliment. I told Shar¡ to give me a call tonight at ten when I got home from work and she said ok.

By the way, I've just decided that writing the term `OK' in capital letters just ruins the continuity and fluidness of my writing. It looks so ugly and big just sitting there. Rather that distract myself and the reader with such an ugly blemish, I will now use `ok' henceforth.

While I was on the control panel at Kumba, operations called and gave me the message that I need to call Shar¡ as soon as possible. She then asked me if I wanted her to connect me since I was at the phone anyway and I said yes and gave her the number. Shar¡'s dad answered but said that he was on the phone with a realtor and asked if I'd call her back. I explained that I couldn't because I am at Busch Gardens and asked him to give her my phone number and he did. Jimmy walked in and I let him answer it as she called back. He told me later that I'm not supposed to give people the direct number, that it's better to have them call through operations. I told him what had happened and that it's my last day on Kumba anyway, so who cares and he agreed.

Shar¡ wanted to know if I'd come over after work to see her. I was kind of reluctant because I was dirty and smelly and had nothing to change into. I also had planned on picking up the pictures of us at Albertson's on the way home and I also didn't have any gas. But just the chance to see her was incentive enough for me to find myself cruising over to her place after work. I found an old but clean tank top in my locker that I threw in there once and wore that. I made it over there by 9:30 only to pull up to a pitch black house. The garage was open and suddenly I see my baby walking out on her cordless phone. I got out and we hugged long and hard. I apologized for my appearance but I don't think she cared. We talked very spiritedly to each other for a long time. It's amazing how well we get along when we talk. We always have a blast and never run out of things to say. We often find ourselves laughing bubbly. Shar¡ is the first person that I've ever been able to talk to more easily in person than on the telephone, except for possibly Laura. But that was just ass kissing and Shar¡ and actually get engulfed in conversation.

Her dad was taking the kids on a walk and he showed up at ten. he seemed really pissed off and me being there so late added furl to the fire. He said that she need to tell him when visitors are coming to the house and their curfew at the house is ten o'clock. He then said that he hopes he need not say any more. We talked a few minutes more and she said that she was sorry that I had to leave so soon. We said our goodbyes and I gave her the new shirt.

When I got home she called and told me that she was wearing it already and really likes it. She also told me that her dad couldn't really see that it was me with her in the garage because it was dark and thought I was probably some scummy old friend of hers. She told him it was me and he later told Buffy that, `That asshole Dan came over tonight!' Buffy got pissed off at him and asked him if he has ever met me. He said yes that he saw me at the hospital and she said that she meant if we had ever sat down and talked. He said no and she went on to tell him that I graduated from high school, am going to be a doctor, and that I probably have a higher IQ than both of them put together. She also said that I am the most decent guy whom Shar¡ has ever brought home. He then asked what I am doing with a girl like Shar¡, which was mean. Shar¡ said that he started feeling like shit and felt worse and worse as buffy talked about me. he then said that he was sorry and would apologize the next time he talked to me. We laughed that things are cool with dad again!
